In this collaborative studio, industrial designers from Amazon helped us to design the future of in-flight service.
We spoke with passengers and flight attendants to determine what pain points and opportunities the system of flying has and how we could redesign this decades-old experience.
In-flight service on airlines hasn't changed since the 1960's.
How can we improve the galley cart system for both passengers and flight attendants?
A passenger first places their drink orders from the app.
Flight attendants check with passengers after boarding to take orders for those not using the airline's phone app.

Service begins and the drink cart is readied and positioned.
The flight attendant is greeted with a layout of the aircraft's seating. This includes the passengers name, status information, and drink choice.
Beverages are dispensed using the on-board nozzles.
A flight attendant hands passengers their requested drink.
After service the trolley is stowed in the aircraft's galley.
